On a Roll in 2015

I do not have any major events to report from this past week, but I did have the pleasure of attending my first County Wellness Committee meeting!

We will be meeting once a month to discuss ways for county employees to make their health and well-being a priority. They are currently having fun encouraging one another to get healthy through "secret wellness buddies" who leave each other little notes and other surprises that include healthy treats, wellness tips, healthy recipes, etc. They reported that it has been a fun, positive, successful way to encourage one another so far.

They have also put together a corporate wellness newsletter that will release once a month to all employees and they are in the midst of brainstorming other ideas including seminars and fitness competitions to keep people on track and motivated in the coming months. It is exciting to see the county employees getting serious about health and wellness under the leadership of Mayor David Crum, and I am honored to be  a small part of it!

While out and about on my rounds at the hospitals this week, I was thrilled to see the new Creation Health feed streaming live in the waiting rooms at Takoma, and to snap a picture of the Blessings Board that one of my coaches had hanging in the break room in her unit during the holidays, for employees to "count their blessings."

I must say that Creation Health is off to a great start in 2015! We have already added 1 new coach at Laughlin and are working to make the program more visible inside each hospital through displays and available materials, as well as wellness activities done along the way.

We also have a few 8-week seminars in the works which I will share more about in the coming months, along with a few other exciting things on the horizon. I hope your year is off to a great start too!
