Tiger Times

Each month, I have the privilege of working with the Tiger Times students at Tusculum View Elementary School on the 2nd and 3rd Tuesday of that month. We have a great time together, learning about the 8 guiding principles that affect our overall health and wellness. On the 2nd Tuesday of the month, we discuss in detail the first 4 letter principles, C - Choice, R - Rest, E - Environment, A - Activity and how they specifically relate to our health.

This past week was the 3rd Tuesday of the month, so we discussed in detail the last 4 letter principles, T - Trust, I - Interpersonal Relationships, O - Outlook and N - Nutrition. As always, we played interactive games to teach these health principles, and I got to leave them with some Creation Health goodies on my way out.

Next month, I look forward to doing it all again with a new group of students!

Switching Gears

This past Tuesday, January 13th, I was honored to speak at the Andrew Johnson Women's Club and take part in their monthly morning meeting/luncheon.

There were 65+ women in attendance and I was in awe of the gorgeous facility/decorations.

The room was absolutely beautiful and the women were just as lovely.

Perfect winter decor if you ask me.

I gave an overview of Creation Health and the 8 guiding principles that affect our overall health and well-being, relating each one to the meeting's "Home Life" theme by showing easy ways to apply these principles at home and passing out all 80 books that I had with me. A few highlights of the event were the delicious catered meal, the wonderful company and the pretty piano accompaniment.

As soon as lunch was over, I switched gears, changed clothes and headed to Tusculum View Elementary, where I had fun teaching the kids about the 8 guiding principles using interactive games and videos. I will actually be working with this Tiger Times crew the 2nd and 3rd Tuesday of every month throughout the remaining school year and I look forward to seeing them again next week.

It has been so much fun for me to work with all kinds of groups and people related to Creation Health (even in the same day) and I am reminded that the principles apply to anyone who is looking to improve their overall health and well-being! Be sure to contact us if you need a speaker at your next event!

Running the Race

Hello again and Happy 2015!

I hope y'all enjoyed a wonderful holiday season with loved ones. I had a great 2 weeks off spending time with family and friends, as well as doing a little traveling. I am, however, glad to be back into a routine and boy did we hit the ground running in the new year! I had 3 speaking engagements and a health council meeting this week alone, with 2 more speaking engagements already lined up for next week!

This past week I had the privilege of speaking at the Laughlin Volunteers luncheon and at the NAMI (National Alliance for Mental Illness) support group meeting, where I gave an overview of Creation Health and the 8 guiding principles that affect our whole person health...physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. These 8 principles make up the acronym C-R-E-A-T-I-O-N and stand for Choice, Rest, Environment, Activity, Trust, Interpersonal Relationships, Outlook and Nutrition. At the NAMI meeting, I specifically related each principle area to mental health.

I was also honored to speak at the Roby Center (pictured above), where I talked about A - Activity, giving tips on how to ease into an exercise program for the new year, one that will last and have long term benefits.

I have made a commitment to make my own health and wellness a top priority again in 2015. No specific resolutions, just taking better care of myself, not just physically but mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Even though 2014 was filled with great things, it was a very stressful year for me, for several reasons, and I have never been one to handle stress effectively. I have decided to change that trend this year and I will admit that I am off to a great start balancing my busyness with healthy choices! Now, to press on!

What about you? Any goals for the new year?

Be sure to let us know if you need a speaker at your next meeting or event!
